Officials of the Udhagamandalam Municipality on Friday acted against owners of buildings that were constructed in violation of rules by sealing them.

Action

According to sources, officials in the town planning wing, sealed a cottage, automobile workshop and two houses on Coonoor Road after the building owners failed to comply with the orders the State Government had issued in response to their appeal on building plan violations. They said that every two weeks or so, the Government officials, after considering the appeals of the owners of buildings, issued orders asking the owners to comply within a specified time frame. When the owners failed, the civic body acted against them.
