Four persons were arrested by the Mudis Police on Sunday for allegedly stealing a copper crown from atop the temple tower at Periya Kadai on Saturday night. The police said that the priest of Sidhi Vinayagar Temple P. Paneerselvam (49) of Valparai locked the temple on Saturday night.
On returning there the next morning he saw the crown missing from the tower and lodged a police complaint. The police arrested S. Karnan (38) of Valparai K. Surya Prakash (26), of Pollachi, and A. Raja Syed (43) and A. Shajahan (46), of Madurai. The police said that Karnan and Surya were friends.
