Arrest of murderers sought in Coimbatore

July 28, 2014 09:53 am | Updated 09:53 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Two special teams led by the Vadavalli and Alandurai police have been formed to nab the miscreants involved in the incident.

There were tense moments near the Vadavalli Bus Stand on Sunday as friends and relatives of S. Dinesh (26), who was found murdered on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Saturday, attempted to block Marudhamalai Road urging the police to nab all the accused involved in the crime without delay.

They said that Dinesh was making imitation jewellery for a living. “On Friday night, he accompanied his friend to meet the accused, as his friend owed some money to them. There was a wordy duel between the two groups which later turned into exchange of blows,” the agitators said.

“During the wee hours of Saturday, a gang of six, armed with deadly weapons, went to his house and took him with them at knife point,” they said. They also alleged that the accused posed a threat to the family and friends of the victim.

Earlier, the agitators tried to block the road with the body of Dinesh. But the police managed to convince the relatives to bury the body after conducting post-mortem examination at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

The Alandurai Police, who are investigating, said that they were yet to get any clues about the accused. “Two special teams led by the Vadavalli and Alandurai police have been formed to nab the miscreants involved in the incident,” Inspector Sivakumar said.
