D. Saravanakumar of the AIADMK was elected unopposed as chairman of the Coonoor municipal council. Official sources disclosed this here on Monday after the withdrawal of nominations for the by-elections to local bodies. BJP candidate K. Padmanathan’s nomination was rejected on September 5.
