Two killed in accident

Doctor Lavanya (28) and her assistant Sunitha (22) were killed in an accident on Chengapalli-Walayar bypass road on Sunday afternoon. The Madukkarai police said that the incident happened when Lavanya’s husband Stanley Sebastian, also a doctor, lost control of the car he was driving. The vehicle hit a milestone and fell off the road. The two died instantly. Sebastian was rushed to a hospital, the police said and added that the three were returning home in Kottayam from Bengaluru.

Case registered

The Ukkadam police have registered a case against Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus driver Ravikumar and conductor Ravichandran for assaulting passenger Dinesh. The police said that the two had picked a quarrel with Dinesh, a railway employee in Mettupalayam, after the latter demanded the balance after paying the fare. Dinesh boarded the bus in Kalapatti to go to Ukkadam.
