Transgender held for murder

City Police have arrested a transgender Sandhya alias Sakthivel (23) in connection with the murder of Mayilsamy (50) of Chinna Thadagam.

According to police, a watchman from Chinna Thadagam Mayilsamy was found dead along the banks of Ukkadam big tank on October 19.

The body bore head injury. City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu and Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Nagarajan (Law and Order) constituted special teams. The teams led by Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Kumarasamy on inquiries arrested the transgender.

The transgender is said to have confessed that she committed the murder. The transgender was produced before the judicial magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.

Duo nabbed

City Police have arrested Ibrahim and Francis on charges of luring a call taxi driver Selvaraj into gambling and robbing him of his belongings.

According to the police, the victim was lured into gambling and was taken to Kuniamuthur – Sindhu Nagar where Ibrahim along with his associates, including Francis, made him play cards.

He was robbed of Rs. 15,000, cell phone and even made to mortgage his omni van for Rs. 55,000. Selvaraj was threatened with dire consequences if he lodged a complaint.

When Selvaraj managed to escape from the house in his vehicle, the duo chased him. The victim raised an alarm for help while crossing Race Course police station. The police intercepted the duo and arrested them.

They were remanded to judicial custody.
