Stolen motorcycles recovered

Saibaba Colony police on Friday arrested three youths, including a college student, on charges of stealing motorcycles. The police said that a police team led by Inspector Rajan, during a routine checking exercise on Thursday on Thadagam Road, questioned three youths on a motorcycle.

Police said the youths confessed to their involvement in stealing motorcycles, particularly new ones, from across the city.

The police said that the Karthikeyan, 20, of Perur Chettipalayam, Ram Ritheesh, 20, of Saravanampatty and Riyaz of Selvapuram stole motorcycles and took them to Karthikeyan’s grandmother’s house near Kurichi Kulam.

There, the youths removed accessories and other parts and sold them at competitive prices.

The money thus gained, they spent on luxurious items and liquor.

Police recovered seven motorcycles worth about Rs. 7 lakh from the house in Kurichi Kulam. Of the three accused, Karthikeyan is a student of a city college, the police said.
