Stalin inspects works taken up for Tamil meet

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday inspected the ongoing development works across the city and its peripheral area for the ensuing World Classical Tamil Conference at the CODISSIA Trade fair complex.

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Ministers K.N. Nehru (Transport), M.P. Saminathan (Highways), Pongalur N Palanisamy (Rural Industries and Animal Husbandry), K. Ramachandran (Khadi), Chief Secretary K.S. Sripathi, Special Officer for World Classical Tamil Conference K. Allauddin, Highways Secretary G. Santhanam, City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu and Inspector General of Police, West Zone, P. Sivanandi.

The Deputy Chief Minister had a discussion with the officials on the progress in various works taken up on an outlay of Rs. 300 crore. Mr. Stalin enquired about the pace of works relating to widening of Tiruchi Road, Mettuppalayam Road, Chengapalli to Walayar, approach road for VIPs to CODISSIA at a cost o Rs. 23 lakh, approach road to the airport at Rs. 4 crore and the Hope College rail overbridge.

Mr. Stalin exhorted the officials to finish all the works well ahead of June 20. He enquired about accommodation, parking, transport, traffic arrangements, sanitation facilities and drinking water arrangements.
