Their relatives staged a demonstration in front of the hospital last evening following which health authorities intervened and referred them to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, they said.

After initial examination at the hospital this morning, all the seven were admitted to a private eye hospital. Joint Director Health Durai Kannan visited the hospital and instructed doctors to ensure that good care was given to them.

In October last, four persons lost their vision following a bacterial infection after they underwent cataract surgery at a private hospital in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh as a follow up of a free eye camp.
