Officials of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) will take immediate action to disconnect electricity service connections given to all illegal and unlicensed hoardings in the district.

This follows similar action taken in Chennai District following an order by the High Court. Hoardings should have obtained licence from the District Collector, who is the only competent authority to give permission.

The land owner should give a no objection letter for the hoarding to be erected on his land or building and a police officer should give a certificate that the hoarding will not obstruct free and safe movement of traffic.

According to a TANGEDCO communication, electricity service connections given to unlicensed and illegal hoardings will be disconnected immediately after issuing notice to the service owners.
