Political parties in Tamil Nadu should come together to speak in one voice to protect the State’s interests in the issue of Karnataka constructing check-dams across the Cauvery at Mekedatu and Rasimanal, Pattali Makkal Katchi president G.K. Mani told reporters here on Sunday.
Just as the political parties were united in Karnataka, so should be the parties in Tamil Nadu. The recent meeting of the Prime Minister and the Members of Parliament from all parties in the State was a welcome move. This should continue and it was the PMK’s desire.

The PMK was ready to forge alliance with any political party except the two major Dravidian parties – the DMK and the AIADMK – in the State for the 2016 Assembly elections, Mr. Mani said.
The party had begun working towards securing a victory in the elections by strengthening its organisation in the western and southern parts of the State, where it was not strong. In the northern parts of the State, though, it was confident of securing over 100 Assembly seats.
Towards strengthening the party, the PMK’s chief ministerial candidate, Anbumani Ramadoss, would visit Coimbatore on April 4 and the Nilgiris on April 6, Mr. Mani said.
