MLA pickets Collectorate

June 01, 2010 10:18 am | Updated 10:18 am IST - Coimbatore:

Perur MLA, S.P. Velumani of AIADMK on Monday picketed the Collectorate along with the residents in protest against the erratic drinking water supply in many areas in his constituency.

Mr.Velumani told reporters that in many areas in the two town panchayats and nine village panchayats, the frequency of water supply stretched from a minimum of 10 days to even 25 days.

The MLA accused the officials from local bodies and TWAD Board of giving evasive replies attributing the water supply problem to break/breach/burst in supply lines. District Revenue Officer A. Shanmugasundaram received the petition from the MLA and promised to sort out the problem. However, the picketing lasted for more than two hours.
