Isolation wards for dengue patients ready

The Department of Health on Monday readied separate wards at District Headquarters hospital in Tirupur city and taluk-government hospitals situated at Avinashi, Palladam, Dharapuram, Udumalpet, and Kangayam to admit patients tested positive for dengue.

“We have earmarked fully-equipped wards as a precautionary measure even though no dengue cases were reported from the district,” Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services G. Thirumalaisamy told The Hindu .

Four beds covered with nets were allocated in the ward at District Headquarters hospital whereas two beds each were set up at each of the taluk-government hospitals in the district.

Dr. Thirumalaisamy said that dengue card kits to test the patients coming with symptoms of dengue fever were now available in the laboratory and medicines to combat the dengue fever were stocked in the government hospitals in huge quantities.

The Corporation administration on Monday introduced 12 more hand-operated sprayers to strengthen the anti-mosquito drive being carried in the city.

Tirupur Corporation sources added that steps were carried out to control the breeding of mosquito at the source itself.
