Four persons were killed and seven injured when the van they were travelling collided with a trailor lorry at Udumalpet-Pollachi highway in the early hours of Friday.
The van was carrying a total of 27 passengers from Pudukottai district to offer prayers at a temple near Pollachi when the incident took place at 3.30 a.m.
The dead were identified as A Shanthi (35), B. Kalaiselvi (29), V. Vellaiammal(35) and V. Chitra (28), all hailing from Lakinampatti village.

The injured were admitted to various hospitals.
