An air-conditioned dining hall and three food courts will be among the facilities to be provided for those attending the World Classical Tamil Conference beginning on June 23.
A review committee meeting of the Hospitality Committee held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Minister of Food, A.V. Velu discussed the bids from private firms, appointment of volunteers to help the committee, their training, transport and accommodation and the number of visitors expected.
Mr.Velu said that for the special invitees and delegates a 40,000 sq ft air-conditioned dining hall having 18 counters was being set up to accommodate 1,500 persons at a time.

An additional dining hall of 12,000 sq ft that can accommodate 1,200 visitors is also coming up.
Six dining places having an area of 36,000 sq ft and 72 counters will be established near the conference pandal behind the planetarium. Two food courts (52,000 sq ft) with 56 counters are coming up just opposite the planetarium. A private food court (56,000 sq ft) will accommodate 20 caterers.
A 4,000 sq ft dining place will come up at all the ten parking lots.

Menu has already been approved.
Food will be prepared in 10 marriage halls and will be brought to the conference venue in trucks with the help of the police.
The Minister asked officials to make adequate provision for drinking water and drainage facilities. He asked the police to make arrangements for the smooth passage of people.
