Judge of the Mahila court M.P. Subramanian on Tuesday convicted and sentenced Nazar (27) son of M.S. Ali to undergo seven years rigorous imprisonment in a case of abduction and rape of a physically challenged minor girl.
According to Public Prosecutor R. Sarojini, the accused abducted the girl who was working with him in a private firm. He forced her to accompany him on a motorcycle, threatening to commit suicide after pouring acid on her face, if she refused. The accused on September 22, 2009 took her to his friend’s house in Bhavani in Erode district and sexually assaulted her. On September 25, he took the girl to another house in Madurai and sexually assaulted her repeatedly.
On September 27, 2009 police tracked the location of the accused and rescued the girl after arresting Nazar. A case was registered against Nazar under section 366 (1) and 376 (1) abduction of minor girl and rape of a minor girl respectively.

Meanwhile, the accused who came out on bail failed to appear before the court continuously for trial. Police executed a non-bailable warrant and arrested him.
When, he moved a bail application, prosecution opposed the same and the court also sustained the objection.
On Tuesday, the Judge found the accused guilty of abduction and rape. He awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment for abduction of a minor girl and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. For the offence of rape, the court awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. he court directed that the sentences would run concurrently and added that the fine of Rs 50,000 should be paid as compensation to the girl. The court also directed the State Government to give solatium of Rs. 1 lakh to the victim and recommended that the girl be provided a suitable government job for her rehabilitation.
