Chief Educational Officer N. Anandhi has ordered closure of 12 nursery and primary schools in the district which were found to be functioning without the requisite infrastructure stipulated for the operation of educational institutions.

Ms. Anandhi said that the closure order for the schools, located in Tirupur, Udumalpet, Alangiyam and Dharapuram areas, was issued on the instructions of the District Collector, as the managements of these institutions did not bother to improve infrastructure despite that the Education Department giving three chances for them to comply with the official norms.

All these schools began functioning in 2013-14 fiscal.
