The police on Monday arrested three persons and seized 12 kg and 200 gram of ganja from them. Following information about college students in Peelamedu having easy access to ganja, the police had formed a special police team.

On Monday, decoys deployed by the team approached three persons who got down from a bus at RK Mill bus stop and asked for ganja. When they supplied it, the police arrested them. Preliminary investigations revealed that they procured ganja from Sakthivel of Veerakeralam. Investigations were on to track consignors and students who use ganja and sell them in smaller quantities. The arrested were: P. Deepan (25) of Veerakeralam, C. Venkatesan of GN Mills Post in Kavundam palayam, and N. Manikanda Prabhu (22) of Tirupur. The police registered a case against them under sections 8 (C) read with 20 (b) (ii) and (B) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. On October 30, the police had arrested two persons and had seized 11 kg of ganja from them.
