Two persons have been detained for questioning about their suspected role in the twin blasts here which claimed seven lives as normal life in the district was hit by a bandh on Monday in protest against the incident.

Police said Bikash Deka and Apurba Rajbonshi were picked up for interrogation in connection with the blasts and were kept in Nalbari Sadar police station, situated near the site where the blasts took place on Sunday.

Meanwhile, shops and business establishments remained closed and vehicular traffic was thin due to the bandh called by the All Assam Students Union (AASU) in protest against the blasts.

Offices, educational institutions and banks did not function and the NH 31 wore a deserted look. Train movement, however, remained unaffected.

He asked the people to wage a united fight against terrorism.
