In view of threat perceptions to the first India-SA ODI here, the Rajasthan police said there will be a strict vigil on the inter-state borders so that the match is conducted without any trouble on February 21.

“No inter-state border has been sealed. Only the police posts have been alerted for better check on highways and public movement along the state borders adjoining Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat,” DGP H.S. Meena said.

A foolproof security cover would be extended at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium for the India-SA ODI on February 21, he said, adding that all security agencies and extra force would keep a vigil on the event.

On February 17, Gagandeep, who services mobile phones at Ghadsana in Sriganganagar district, overheard voices of two persons speaking about attacks on the ODI during a cross connection. He immediately informed the SP concerned about the conversation, the DGP said.

Both Central and state security and intelligence agencies are on the job to detect any links to terror groups about Gagandeep’s report, the DGP said, adding that the informant has not provided either the number of the suspected callers or any other clue.

“Police are not going to take any chance on the security front, and will maintain law and order at all costs,” Meena said.
