The Mumbai police have appealed to citizens to be alert and look out for two foreign nationals who entered the city in the recent past to cause disruption in crowded places, especially at places of worship.
Joint Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy told journalists here on Friday that the Mumbai police and the Crime Branch had formed several teams to nab Kalimuddin Khan alias Rameshwar Pandit (28) and Hafiz Sharif (25).
“We are going to use CCTVs to monitor religious and other crowded places in the city.”

Mr. Roy said the Crime Branch was in no position to give out any further detail. “We have received information from intelligence agencies that two persons of foreign origin have entered Mumbai for causing disruption. It is important right now to circulate these names and photos widely in the public.”
Asked whether the intention of the two was to strike during religious festivals, Mr. Roy said it is not a “mere coincidence” that they had come just before important religious festivals. Ramzan was celebrated on Friday, and Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Saturday.
The police have appealed to the citizens that if they spot either of the two foreigners, they should report to the nearest police station or call up 100 or the dedicated numbers (022) 22633333, (022) 22625020.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has appealed to the people to be alert and report any suspicious activity. “We received information from the Union Home Ministry about the two terrorists. The people have to remain alert and pass on information if they come across anyone matching the description of the two which has been relayed by the police,” he said.
