Naidu demands CBI probe against Tiwari

Telugu Desam Party President N. Chandrababu Naidu demanded a thorough probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against N.D. Tiwari to protect the sanctity of the office of Governor.

Mr. Naidu said democratic traditions warranted an impartial inquiry to establish the veracity of the allegations against him and place the facts before the public.

Describing the allegations as “unprecedented,” the TDP president said on Saturday that the reports in the press alleging “unethical and immoral activities” by the constitutional functionary, his associates and some MPs had brought down the prestige of the gubernatorial office.

BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya said the resignation, though belated, was welcome. He said Mr. Tiwari had brought disrepute to the highest position in the State and wanted the government to take stringent action.
