Extend hand of friendship, but with caution: RSS

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said dialogue with Pakistan was important, but it was important to be cautious and understand the neighbouring country’s “intentions.”

“Dialogue is important. A hand of friendship should be offered, but with caution. We should know their intentions. We should see what they want. They have been making ridiculous allegations about India funding the Taliban,” Mr. Bhagwat said at a public meeting on the Ramlila Grounds here.

Referring to China, he said the two countries should engage each other in dialogue, but “we should not let anyone dominate us.”

Mr. Bhagwat claimed that the RSS did not want anything for itself. It could have fought elections if it wanted to. “We don’t have to hide behind any political outfit.”

He said the common people should find a solution to their problems on their own. “Unless the common people get together, the country will not grow and achieve its full potential.”

Claiming that Hindutva united everyone, Mr. Bhagwat said India had earned the respect of the whole world because of its rich ancient culture.
