Modhagam is a traditional type of kozhukattai. I learnt this recipe from my grandmother.

Coconut, grated – 1/4 cup

Water - 2 1/2 cups

Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp

Cooking instructions

In a pressure pan roast the sesame seeds and keep aside.

In the same pan add ghee and fry the rice for two minutes.

In another vessel add jaggery and 2 1/2 cups of water and boil. Add this boiling jaggery mix to the fried rice.

Add roasted sesame seeds, grated coconut and cardamom powder. Pressure cook for ten minutes on a low flame. When the cooked mixture cools down, make into small round balls. Steam these balls in an idly cooker for ten minutes.
