Guru Puja organised

With reverence: The Holy Veda Vyasa Day was celebrated with spiritual fervour.

Students of Shri Natesan Vidyasala, Mannivakkam, performed ‘Padha Puja’ to their teachers. The students sang ‘Thodakashtakam’ and Adi Shankara’s ‘Guru Vandanam.’ Former chemistry professor from Madras Christian College, Venkatraman, and Odhuvar Gomathinayagam were the guests of honour. Around 51 students who secured 450 and above in the Class X public examinations were given a scholarship of over Rs. 2,50,000 and teachers who produced centum in various subjects in Class X and XII examinations were given a cash incentive of Rs.1,10,000. All 230 teaching and non-teaching staff of the school were given mementos on the occasion. The founder- correspondent of the school, N. Ramasubramanyan, spoke on the significance of Vyasa Pooja by quoting extensively from Vedas, Upanishads, Srimad Baghavatham, Divya Prabandham, Thiruvasagam, and important events in the lives of Swami Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Veer Shivaji, Kanchi Mahaswami, Harihara Bukhar and the establishment of Vijayanagaram. The function was concluded with puja to Veda Vyasa.
