Shoonya Centre for art and somatic practices is organising a semi deluxe writing programme; a workshop for people interested in becoming a writer, both fiction or non-fiction.

The programme has been conceptualised by Anjum Hassan, Eshwar Sunderesan and Zach O’ Yeah. The organisers believe that writing sharpens one’s faculties, sensitises them to a language, and enables them to find a voice, and thus came up with this programme. “It is an initiative we have taken. The programme is going to be a bumpy ride, for sure. But we expect the most from the participant.”, says Eeshawar Sundereshan, one of the writers, at a recent press conference.

‘Bangalore’s World-Famous Semi-Deluxe Writing Programme’ is a 12-week programme that has an impressive faculty including Anjum Hasan on fiction and poetry, Zac O'Yeah on thriller writing and travelogues, Eshwar Sundaresan on literary concepts and on business writing, Rohini Mohan, a war correspondent and many others. It will comprise participants learning skills, understanding craft, and trying your hand at a range of genres, and using your spare time to complete assignments that will be reviewed by the faculty on an individual basis. This hands-on and interactive experience promises to be an engaging way to challenge yourself to do something new,” say the organisers.

The programme also wants the participants to understand the importance of reading. “ I want to start with reading, because that’s how you develop an interest in literature and then turn to your own writing and develop a relationship with literature,” says Anjum Hassan.

The organisers add, “The participants are going to be subjected to various challenges and anything that keeps their literary self committed and active. This will help the participants write confidently and help them improve their style with every assignment.”
