MR Matric bags sports championship

Chennai: M.R. Matric. Hr. Sec. School Nerkundram bagged the overall championship in the Ponneri Educational District Republic Day Sports meet (Zonal level).

Purusothaman of class XI won the individual championship in the under-19 category. The management and staff members congratulated the winners.

Going green – the Meridian School way

The Meridian International School has undertaken a unique initiative with theThink Green – Save Trees concept where it will give a sapling to every student to plant and grow in their houses.

The management announced that there will be constant follow up photographs every month of the tree with the student, which will be taken by the teacher’s team sent by them. At the end of the academic year, the management will reward the student whose tree has grown well.

PSBB marks Madras’s 375th birthday 

Chennai: ‘Madras Day’ was celebrated at Padma SeshadriBala Bhavan, K.Nagar. The school paid tribute to the city of Chennai on the occasion of the 375th year of its founding.

The theme was ‘The Evolution Of Tamil Cinema’. This was presented in the form of posters of movie stars, a special ‘Madras Day’ song, a power point presentation on the evolution of Tamil cinema, a skit and a musical medley. Dr.Chitra Madhavan was the chief guest who presented a PPT on the history of ‘Ancient temples in and around Chennai. ’

The chief guest gave away prizes to the winners of inter-school competitions held. The key note address was delivered by dean and director Dr. (Mrs.)Y.G.Parthasarathy.

 St John’s hosts ‘Zest’ful competitions

Chennai: St.John’s Senior Secondary School and Junior College, Mandaveli organised the Zest 2014,an inter-school cultural fest for two days in their campus as a part of the school’s 45 anniversary.

More than 40 city schools took part in the fest which had the theme ‘Ancient Egyptian Culture’.

Events like Adzap, Ball pen art, headdress and face painting and Ship Wreck were held and saw the keen participation of all the students.

Ganesh Chathurthi at St. Michael School

Madurai: Vinayaga Chathurthi was celebrated at St.Michael MHSS. Teachers and students decorated the stage and a special prayer was conducted to mark the celebration. Students were dressed like Lord Vinayaga and they performed various dance items and recited slogans. Students of class XI along with teachers prepared various tasty food items at school.

The chairman Ln.Dr.Stalin Arockiyaraj, correspondent Er.Bridget Nirmala were present during the celebrations.

Cultural fiesta at Vaels International 

Chennai: Vaels International School held its annual Inter School Cultural programme - Kalakriti 2014 at its premises. The two-day fest was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Ishari K Ganesh, chancellor, Vels University, Arthi Ganesh, pro-chancellor, Venkatachalam, dean, Meenakshi Ramesh, principal.

Students from schools competed in a variety of events, including Adzap, Ship Wreck, Shoe Designing, & Face painting. A fashion pageant depicting the culture and heritage of various countries across the world was the highlight of the programme.

The overall champion trophy was bagged by Vels Vidyashram, Pallavaram. The chief guest Simran gave away the prizes to the winners of the competition.
