The (late) Akkineni Nageswara Rao was considered an emperor of melodies.

Jamuna: There have been many hit numbers in movies which I acted with ANR. I like the song Niluvave vaalu kanula daana... from the movie Illarikam . The fun song shot on a beach has a lot of energy. ANR catches everyone’s attention with his dancing steps. He was known for his steps in movies like Dasara Bullodu but to my knowledge, Niluveve… was the first number where the actor showcased his dancing skills and he became a rage. I loved his performance, especially the way he woos a girl.

I also like another song Pagadaala Jabilli… from the movie Mooga Nomu . It’s a romantic number and the highlight is the way ANR acted sensitively without making the scenes look vulgar. Even when he puts his hand on my shoulder or we hugged each other… he brought out the expressions through his eyes with subtlety. These two songs are one among the many songs which proves how versatile he was as an artiste and how he could switch to contrast roles with effortless ease.

Bangaru Gaajulu . I am sure all the sisters like to sing the song to their brothers for the love and affection it showcased between brothers and sisters.

It’s not just a melodious number but also very beautifully shot. ANR plays my brother and he brings gold bangles as his mark of affection. Another delightful number is

Gutta meeda guvva koosindi… from the movie
Buddhimanthudu . It’s a very classy number and in those times, one would hear it wherever one would go.

Vanisri:Mansuna manasai… from Dr. Chakravarthy is one of my favourite numbers. It’s a universal song and its lyrics are easy to understand and have a deeper meaning. Ghantasala has given many memorable hits in ANR’s voice. I also like the songs Evari kosam … and Theta theta Telugu la … from Premnagar . I like the tune and lyrics of the song. ANR was a walking encyclopaedia. Acting along with him was priceless but I also consider myself lucky that I was born in a country where ANR was born.
