Anudeep and Lipsika on song

The singers talk on their efforts in working on the A cappella version of ‘Andalalo’

HYDERABAD: Adding to the growing popularity of A cappella music across the country, regional singers Anudeep Dev and Lipsika have come up with their version of the number ‘Andalalo’, the song from Ilaiyaraja’s Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari recently. This is their second collaboration after a similar attempt with the Gopi-Sunder composed track ‘Yenno Yenno’ from Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju .

Confessing these attempts as his effort to make a mark for himself as a singer among the younger lot, Anudeep says, “While singing for movies ensures my bread and butter, this fulfils my passion. This is a phase in the industry where there’s no singer monopoly and there’s every danger, that you become just one among the rest. As a musician, identifying the numbers where we can do an A cappella version is a challenge. Ekkuva hadavidi lekunda , we wanted to do our bit to experiment and it has paid off.”

Not only the above-mentioned tracks, Anudeep has performed on several unplugged versions of popular tracks over the last two years. Some of them include, ‘Eduta Nilichindi Choodu’, ‘Nenjikulle’, ‘Athisayame’ and ‘Nee Choopule’.The

Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham ) is all the more happy when these efforts are reaching the right corners of the industry. One among them was composer Thaman who was vocal in his appreciation to the singer-duo.

Lipsika too, through the collaboration is thrilled to have added a new dimension to her repertoire. “The idea was Anudeep’s and I felt it was creative. Whenever we listen to a song, we either focus on the singer or the lyrics. These initiatives help us realise the value of a sound music arrangement,” she, also a dubbing artiste (her recent assignments being
