Launch of TAG Heuer’s standalone boutique in the city

As the world waits for Baselworld , an exhibition and trade fair of watches and jewellery, slated to happen end of this month at the watch-making capital of the world Switzerland, the watch industry in India seems to be growing.

TAG Heuer, a Swiss watch brand known for style and accuracy, launched its newest boutique in Chennai’s Phoenix Market City. It is the eighth standalone boutique for the brand in the country.

“We want people to experience TAG Heuer in an exclusive manner. Chennai is growing every year. It is still traditional in its core, but evolving beautifully,” says Franck Dardenne, general manager, TAG Heuer India.

The brand had its first boutique at ITC Park Sheraton in 2004. The new boutique will house latest and limited-edition watches as well as accessories such as wallets, belts, cufflinks, eyewear and mobile phones. “Luxury is moving away from hotels to malls, which give a larger audience the ability to discover the latest trends and experience brands from around the world,” says Franck.

Sporting connection

Frank said TAG Heuer is committed to extreme sports, and the Aquaracer collection really captures this essence. “Aquaracer was the right choice for us to launch in this store because Chennai has always been keen on sailing and has hosted many sailing events. Also with it being a port city, this watch fits right in,” he says.

The Aquaracer was first launched in 1982 and since then it has been contemporised to be water-resistant and sporty. The latest collection has safety features, is water-resistant up to 500 mt and has a helium valve.

Karun Chandhok, TAG’s brand ambassador, unveiled the latest Aquaracer 500 M Chronograph, and said he related to the brand because it struck a balance between sporty and classy.
