The set up based out of Delhi and NCR, has tailor-made insurance packages starting from as low as Rs.200 per annum. It is an attempt by Swabhimaanya to bring financial security within the ambit of those to whom such services simply meant luxuries enjoyed by the elite. The launch follows a successful pilot in Tamil Nadu where Swabhimaanya benefited about 25,000 people over three months. It now plans to reach out to one million people by the end of year across India and has joined hands with Bajaj Allianz for life insurance and Future Generali for accident and health insurance.
With population of domestic workers nearly at 100 million people in India, Swabhimaanya becomes the first player in this unchartered territory to further government's effort to bring domestic help at par with industrial labour in terms of financial inclusion and benefits. The entry point for an individual to avail the services starts from less than one rupee per day. Different insurance plans offered by Swabhimaanya include life, accidental and medical insurance.
