Deepika delighted
Deepika Padukone is thrilled. And, why not! Just how many actors get such a debut in Tamil films – pairing with Rajinikanth! The actor, who was in the city recently for the shoot, seemed visibly delighted. “I hail from the South, and I'm immensely happy to be working with Rajini sir in ‘Rana'. We spoke for a few minutes during the shoot. I watched ‘Robot', and I think it's one of the best films in the recent past,” said the actor. “Rana” is set in the 17th Century. A few other big names are said to join the film shortly.

After “Singam” and “Siruthai”, it is now the turn of “Vengai”. Starring Dhanush and Tamannaah, the film's directed by Hari. Says the director: “This is my eleventh film, and the first with the lead pair. I'm looking at giving a complete entertainer with this film. It's the story of the bond between a father (Raj Kiran) and his obedient son. The songs have been in shot Phuket and Malaysia.” The film comes under the Vijaya Productions banner, and is produced by Bharathi Reddy. The film's shooting is over, and the post production work is on.
Remembering a legend
Mayavaram Krishnamurthy Thyagaraja Bhagavathar popularly known as M.K.T. Bhagavathar remains one of the most popular singers of Tamil cinema. He mesmerised listeners with his voice so much so that he was fondly referred to as ‘Yezhisai Mannar'. In a tribute to the singer, Classic Creations has launched the DVD ‘M.K.T. – The Legend'. The DVD contains a few rare photographs of the singer with big names such as MGR, and those taken during the launch of the film “Ambikapathi”. It also includes interviews with doyens of the industry such as T.M. Soundararajan and director Ellis R. Duncan. Conceived and directed by I. Shanmuganathan and Thiruninravur T. Santhanakrishnan, the DVD is said to contain interesting nuggets that one may be interested in knowing about the legend.
