Romantic entertainer

When the hero’s offer of marriage is turned down by his cousin on flimsy grounds, his father challenges that his son will soon find a girl much better in looks, education and family background to marry. “Consequently, Rajesh (the hero) leaves his village, heads for the city, where most of the remaining action takes place. He searches for an ideal girl, spots one (Joshna) and promptly falls in love. He then takes her back to the village to prepare for his wedding. What happens thereafter forms the climax of Manam Nillunna Nikkathadi ,” says director K. Ramu. His earlier film was the Vijay Vasanth-Rasna starrer Theriyama Unnai Kadhalichitten . The music is composed by R. G. Alan who had earlier assisted Harris Jayaraj.

Anu Mohan makes his Tamil debut with a musical

Coming from a family of film actors in Kerala — father Mohan Kumar, mother Shobha Mohan, brother Vinu Mohan, uncle Sai Kumar and grandfather Kottarakkara Sridharan Nair — Anu K. Mohan, who has starred in Malayalam films Orkut Oru Ormakut and Theevram, is making his debut in Tamil with Oru Vaanavil Poley. “I play a music enthusiast who knows to play almost all the musical instruments and nurtures a deep desire to organise a live orchestral performance. I meet a girl on Facebook, with either of us not knowing our real identities except the fact that she is a singer and I, a musician. Love develops online. How do we meet? Do we take to each other in real life? The end of Oru Vaanavil Poley reveals it all. The most interesting part of the movie is the climax which happens in the last half hour during a live concert,” says Anu Mohan who also plays the lead in the Malayalam version of the film, Pianist.

Both Pianist and Oru Vaanavil Poley have been shot separately by director Hyder Ali who earlier had given hits in Malayalam such as Raja Manikyam, Ali Bhai, Ben Johnson and Thanthonni. Besides Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Vanita, Thalaivasal Vijay and G. M. Kumar, both versions feature drummer Sivamani and keyboardist Stephen Devassy in key roles.

Wedding bells

Television anchor Ramya Subramanian and Aparajith were married recently at MRC Kalyanamandapam, followed by a grand reception at Park Hyatt. Ramya was known for anchoring popular TV shows such as Kalakkapovadhu Yaro , Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhudeva , Namma Veetu Kalyanam and Kedi Boys Killadi Girls . Many film personalities from Kollywood attended the wedding and the reception.
