After the demure, faithful wife in the award-winning Adaminte Makan Abu , Zarina Wahab will be seen in a complete makeover in her new Malayalam film Aaru Sundarimarude Katha (ASK). She plays Chachi, a gun-toting widow of Lieutenant Colonel Late Cyriac Moothedan. In the traditional ‘chattayum-mundum’, Chachi is fiercely independent, like the other five women who bond together in the face of adversities. Actress-model Uman K. Jain, Nadia Moidu, Shamna Kazim, Lakshmi Rai and Lena make up the six ‘beautiful’ women. This is Rajesh K. Abraham’s debut directorial venture. Rajesh has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues along with Senni Varghese. Sameer Haq cranks the camera and music is by Deepak Dev. The shoot of the film is on at locations in Kochi, Pala and Erattupetta.

Director Lal Jose is a busy man. After three films in 2012, he is all set to kick off 2013 with

Emmanuel starring Mammootty. “It’s a soft, subtle film,” he says, “sans any kind of cacophony”. The story revolves around Emmanuel, a middle aged man working in a publishing house who loses his job and struggles to get a grip on his life. He is also introducing a new face, Reenu Mathew, a model and cabin crew for Emirates Airlines, who will play Mammootty’s wife in the film. “I was drawn to the central character, when scriptwriter 0Vijeesh narrated it,” Lal Jose says. So will the film have the special Lal Jose touch? “I have love within me and it will reflect in my films, and that has to be the ‘Lal Jose touch’,” he says. He has also signed another film,

Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum with Kunchacko Boban in the lead.
