Short takes: Sukanya in Mahesh Babu’s next

Actress Sukanya has been roped in to essay an important role in Mahesh Babu’s next yet-untitled Telugu project, currently on floors in Malaysia. “Sukanya will be seen as one of the family members of Mahesh in the movie,” says a source from the film’s unit. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film features Shruti Haasan, apart from Jagapathi Babu, Brahmanadam, Rajendra Prasad, Sampath Raj, Angana Roy, Shanoor Sana and Rahul Ravindran. The last Telugu film that featured Sukanya was the Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer

A sequel to ‘Rangam’

Jiiva and Karthika Nair starrer Rangam , dubbed from the Tamil film Ko , was a runaway success in 2011. The film directed by K.V. Anand stuck a chord with the audience for its innovative storytelling involving politics and photo journalism. Now, a sequel is being planned. But this film will have a different cast and crew. National Award winning Tamil actor Bobby Simha and Nikki Galrani will play the leads and the film will be directed by Sarat Mandava, who has earlier co-directed films like Billa 2 and Unnaipol Oruvan (the Tamil remake of A Wednesday; Eenadu in Telugu). Prakash Raj will essay a powerful character.
