Igniting enthusiasm

Loyola College's Ignite '10 saw myriad talents set the stage ablaze.

Ignite ‘10, the song and dance fest, organised by the Loyola Students Union, was held recently at the Sir Muthu Venkata Subbarao Hall, Lady Andal School campus.

The annual fundraiser of Loyola College, it also plays a big role as it is Loyola's Annual inter-collegiate event. Ignite is a showcase of dance. It played host to some of the best dance teams among Tamil Nadu's colleges.

Medley treat

This year, Ignite boasted of the vocal prowess of a number of celebrities such as Naresh Iyer, Ranjith, Haricharan, Shwetha Mohan, Roshini, etc, who added energy to the show with their peppy numbers. Another star attraction was the Airtel Super Singer, Ajeesh who is a student at Loyola.

While the vocalists enthralled the audiences with their performances, the night could not have been completed without the best dance moves the best of Chennai's Dance Groups had to offer. Eight of the best dance teams across Tamil Nadu, including those of city colleges stole the attention of the audiences with their talent, style, poise and energy which can be termed as nothing less than a spectacular brilliance.

Host performances

Loyola's very own teams including the famous ‘Dream Team' and the newly formed girls only team ‘Mavens', set the stage ablaze with their stellar dance performance.

With dance masters Kalyan and Gowtham as the celebrity judges for the evening, the team from Annai Vellankanni College and The New College were declared the winners and runners-up respectively and walked away with the cash prizes. The judges had a special word of praise for the teams from NIT, Trichy and the Women's Christian College.
