It’s the first week of Wimbledon, the most awaited Grand Slam, and excited tennis fans are gushing over the Major.
Expressing her love for the Wimbledon, Sanjana Eyunni, a student of St.Francis College says, “Wimbledon is my favourite grand slam. The class that’s associated with the game on that grass court is just something else.” Jaidev Reddy, a student of St. Mary’s college says, “The culture they have and maintain makes it so prestigious.” E Namrata, a student of St. Francis College says, “I can’t possibly pick one favourite grand slam event. They’re all great. But Wimbledon is definitely one of my favourites. The view of legends playing top quality tennis on lush green in white clothes is bliss.”
Do they expect anything different this year? Sanjana says, “The previous couple of matches have been nail biting, especially with Nadal out of the tournament. Roger Federer has shown what different means, with his entertaining shot against Sam Querrey.”

Namrata adds, “Seems like the underdogs are putting up a great fight; creating a sense of uncertainty which is the beauty of any sport.” “I’m hoping that all the top seeds make it to the semi-finals.” Jaidev adds.
Catching a match on TV has not been that easy for these youngsters. Jaidev says, “I’ve been missing a lot of my tuitions and I haven’t been able to wake up for college on time because of the matches!” Adds Namrata, “I’m supposed to be doing an assignment but I’m watching Wimbledon. When I miss one, I ensure I watch the highlights.”
When asked if they would ever wish to go to Wimbledon for a match, they were wishful. “The thought of watching a game at Wimbledon gives me goosebumps. Just that experience of watching players with thousands of people who share your enthusiasm is definitely a dream.” Jaidev says, “My dream is to watch Federer play on centre court.” Sanjana adds, “It has always been on my bucket list to watch a centre court match at Wimbledon.”
