Bharatanatyam exponent Leela Samson is all set for a new role – in front of the camera. She will be playing a key character in Mani Ratnam’s Oh Kadhal Kanmani , which is slated to hit screens this Friday. “This is my first attempt in front of the camera,” she said, “I was privileged to act with so many young people.”
Elaborating on her role in the film, she added, “I play actor Prakash Raj’s wife and a retired singer. They live in Mumbai and this young couple (played by Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen) come to stay with them as paying guests. The film revolves around the relationship between the young couple and the two of us.” Describing Dulquer Salmaan as her ‘heart-throb’, Leela said she saw this as an opportunity to learn something new. “After being certification board chief, it was nice to get on the other side and see what it was all about,” she said.
