His latest release, Achharam, has provided Ganesh Venkatram a new direction in Kollywood. In the process, he has busted a couple of myths too. “For many years, I was looked upon as a misfit to portray the role of a traditionally accepted Tamil film hero. As far as the industry was concerned, I was too fair, too tall and too good-looking. I could be a menacing cop but not a romantic. Achharam broke all those myths and suddenly people saw me as a different kind of ‘actor’ who could emote well too,” says a happy Ganesh Venkatram.
In the following months, Ganesh is looking forward to a double dhamaka. The Hindi remake of Polladhavan , titled Guns of Benares, is getting ready for release; so is the M. Raja-directed Thani Oruvan . “In Thani Oruvan , I share screen space with Jayam Ravi and Nayantara; and there’s Arvind Swamy and Vamsi as well. It is an action drama made with an original script. While the story has a socially relevant message on crime in society, my role is a well-defined one with a strong emotional angle to it. A strong bond of friendship ties the three main characters together,” informs Ganesh.
He adds, “It is not a typical Kollywood film. There is no love triangle, but an underlying element of romance will be present. After
