Kathak, cardio, yoga, taekwondo… Jiah Khan focusses on many methods to stay in shape

Style quotient: Jiah Khan.

For many, fitness is a way of life. But for actor Jiah Khan, known for her controversial debut in Nishabd opposite Amitabh Bachchan, and her role in Ghajini , fitness is a way to learn different art forms.

She gives credit to her mother for mentoring her in every sphere of life, be it fitness, films or food. “I am lucky to have someone to take care of my weight. She has been in charge of my weight management for a long time,” the actor adds.

Her mother, a trained dancer, also inspired her to take up the classical dance form Kathak. “Initially it was fun, but unfortunately with time I lost too much weight as I used to practise for hours daily,” she says.

Jiah is currently focussed on disciplined cardio exercises. She does them four days a week, putting in two hours of work-out each of these days. “I travel a lot and gym is not available everywhere. So I use my stretching bands or prefer doing freehand exercise as there is nothing better than using your own body weight doing yoga,” she says. Besides work-outs, Jiah sticks to three-course meals and doesn’t take anything in between meals.

After experimenting with Kathak, cardio and yoga, now Jiah is planning to take up classes for taekwondo as her next way to be in shape.
