Fitness for a singer-performer like Anushka Manchanda would mean stamina, energy and special care for the vocal chords. Ask the artiste about how she tends to these three areas, and she reveals a very simple work-out plan. “I am a walker.I eat well, try to sleep at least eight hours, do a wheatgrass shot in the morning and try to drink a lot of water,” she says.

“I don’t drink cold water. I don’t talk at places where the music is loud. I drink hot water and honey with ginger when I have sore throat. I rest my voice and try to relax as much as I can before a performance,” she adds.

To develop stamina, the singer recommends an adequate amount of sleep even as she finds a hidden store of energy within her when she steps on to the stage. “I feel like I was born to be on stage.Music is meditation for me. I can get lost in good sound and that gives my brain and soul wings. It’s important to give yourself time, something that I haven’t done a lot but starting to do now.”

She also associated with India Bike Week this year, an initiative that brings together bikers and biking enthusiasts from across the country over various events, culminating in the main event in January next in Goa. Anushka considers biking a great way to beat stress. “For me biking is a great stress buster and stress-free life is the most healthy life. Also, I feel biking is extremely refreshing and gives you positive energy,” she points out.
