‘I want to die with six-pack abs’

Bollywood hunk John Abraham was in town recently to talk on fitness at a conference organised by Philips. “My only religion is my body and work out,” declared John. Right from his school days, he added, he always wanted to have the perfect body. He has been an active footballer since.Currently he is working on Shootout at Wadala , a film in which he plays a gangster. The movie, directed by Sanjay Gupta, is the prequel to the 2007 Bollywood film Shootout at Lokhandwala . It is based on the book Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia , written by veteran crime reporter Hussain Zaidi.

He said it is very important to live life in a holistic way to nurture our body. John keeps a strict workout regime, even during busy shooting schedules. “When I am in an outdoor shoot, I exercise in my vanity van. It is a fallacy that I am always struck in the gym. I keep varying my workout and believe in maintaining a scientific approach while exercising.”

He adds, “I have an off day from the workout, but have none from the kind of food I eat”. However, heensures that he eats right and on time. Asked about the challenges in changing his physique in accordance to the role, hereplied, “I have a tendency to lose weight easily. Even without working out I can pull down my weight. On the contrary, I really need to workout heavily and commensurate the amount I eat so as to gain weight.”

John quipped, “I want to live with six pack abs and die with six pack abs. Whenever I eat food, a lot of people try to peep into my plate with an intention to see what magical stuff am I eating.” He added, “My mantra for good health is: Good food, Great sleep and tight routine.”
