Internet’s growing penetration has ensured that you can find a stylist at the click of a mouse. With the democratisation of fashion, everybody wants the service of an experienced stylist to make one look like a movie star. And all that within one's spending power.

This week Delhiites are in for a regal treat as no less than 15 stylists would vie for their attention as for the first time StyleCracker, a personalised online styling platform, comes to the city with a daylong offline event. So, a wide assortment of outfits, accessories and lifestyle products would be under the same roof at Indigo, One Golden Mile, on October 31.

The stylists are led by Archana Walavalkar, whose work in films like

Explaining their modus operandi, Archana Walavalkar, Creative Director at StyleCracker, says, “Through online and offline activities we provide one-stop shopping experience where there is men’s wear, winter wear and everything related to fashion. In Delhi, stylists would accompany shoppers to various brands and guide them where to splurge their money. We have curated a few winter brands. Delhiites love jewellery; so we have a range of accessories.”

In news for styling Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapur, Archana says she glamourised them according to their on-screen character in Shaandaar . “While working on a film, it is important to stay true to the character. Stylist is like an editor, picking trends off the runway that best suit the director’s vision while doing justice to the actor’s personal style. In Shaandaar , Alia plays a free-spirited girl. So we gave her fuss-free separates like slouchy sweatshirts, cut-off denims and worn-in boots. Similarly, for Shahid, who plays the quintessential hero, we selected part rugged, part suave and totally cool. For him, we chose staples like tees, linen shirts, leather jackets and denims. Their off-screen style is quite similar to what they have worn in the film.”

Here the idea is to make the customer aware about what would work for him and how to build a balanced wardrobe. “Bollywood inspires millions in our country on what to dress in. If a woman wants to look like Deepika Padukone then, obviously, we would not give her a Manish Malhotra outfit. But a sari similar to what Deepika has worn as budget constraint is there. Suitability factor also plays uppermost in our minds. In case a certain look does not go well with the body type of the consumer, then we show her another variant.”

So there would be stylists who can make a man look like dashing Hrithik Roshan or a woman as elegant as Tabu. “But the stars would be reference points. Eventually, individual style is all about experimenting and figuring out what works for you. Therefore, personalisation to each person who wants our service is essential.”

Tips would be given on on-screen trends and how they can fit into a customer’s wardrobe while keeping in mind his lifestyle, personality and spending power.

“With so many brands and designers to choose from, shopping can be a nerve-wracking experience. That is where a personal stylist steps in helping you what to wear, how to wear and where to buy,” says Archana.
