Candy goes chic

Friends Sanjana Rai and Sneha Satyaprakash say that their brand Titora is named after a candy they ate as children

They giggle. A lot. And their outfits are an expression of their bright, chirpy spirit. Both Sanjana Rai’s bright neon-hued outfit and Sneha Satyaprakash’s buttercup yellow reflect the essence of the rest of their collection—easy-to-wear, a trifle quirky, fun and comfortable desi wear with clean lines, interesting silhouttes and an inherent elegance.

“We’ve known each other forever,” laughs Sneha adding that their interest in styling went as far back as their school days in Bangalore where they studied together. This was followed by a stint together in London where Sneha graduated in fashion design and Sanjana in retail.

When they returned, they realized they decided to start their own brand with Sneha handling the operations from Bangalore while Sanjana (who is based out of Chennai) handles the marketing element of it.

“We do the design bit together. Whatsapp is out best friend and we ideate over it,” smiles Sanjana.

“Yes. And it helps that our design sensibilities are almost the same,” chips in Sneha.

And the name of their brand, Titora again comes from a common memory, “Titora goes back to our childhood. We were born in Nepal and would nibble together on this candy available there called Titora. That’s where it all began,” laughs Sanjana.

Talking about their clothes,” Our clothes are vibrant, colourful, young, unique and fun. We do mostly Indian and indo-western clothes, exploring and experimenting with fabrics, colours and designs with a keen attention to detail,” says Sneha.

“We don’t mass produce garments at all. Our clothes are one of a kind and unique and we customize a lot too,” adds Sanjana. “We have 4 stores in 4 different cities and hope to expand to other ones too.”
