Just when you thought you would see no change in footwear trends, we're here to tell you that flats are making their best ever comeback. And no, we aren't talking about those shabby rubber chappals or flip-flops. Flats are now available in a host of new avatars.
Kolhapuris are best suited for that traditional, yet chic look. Match your chudidar set with a pair of Kolhapuris. While the regular ones are available in almost every shade there is and go with your college attire, those festooned with gold cords and zari strips could also be worn on special occasions such as weddings and ethnic parties.
Gladiators look best when teamed with skinny jeans or a pair of baggy cargos. The strappier they are, the hotter they look. Go in for wide-strapped gladiators and ones that have buckles all the way to your calf if you are tall and prefer to wear a pair of shorts or a knee-length dress. If you plan on wearing them as part of your evening ensemble go in for a metallic pair. Blacks and browns are standard. You could go in for purple gladiator sandals for a change.

Ankle-strapped flat sandals can be coupled with your sweater dress or with a short tunic. Choose a delicate pattern for evening or party wear. Thong sandals can be worn when the occasion calls for wearing something dressier than your favourite pair of flip-flops. These can be worn with capris, shorts, casual skirts, dresses or trousers. Go berserk with colour coding.
Ballerinas have been around for a very long time now, but remain a favourite especially among the college goers. Again, metallic colours are quite the rage. However, don't ignore the checkered patterns. Bows on ballerinas are pretty but buckles and buttons are more popular now. Embellished flats have no substitute this season. Only make sure you get yourself a good pedicure before you follow the flat trend to the T!
