Captive, but need care

Friends of Elephants is hosting a special programme “Care In Captivity” on July 27 which looks at various aspects of elephants in captivity.

The programme will take you through the life of timber elephants of the Myanmar forests in a talk by Hannah Mumby, University of Sheffield, U.K.. This will be followed by a documentary on the relationship between mahouts and elephants, a talk on elephant health care by Dr. T. Gopal, former director of the Institute of Animal Health & Veterinary Biologicals, Hebbal.

Thereafter, another film “Care is Rare in Captivity”, made by the Friends of Elephants group, will be screened.

The programme begins at 5.45 at the Rangoli Metro Art Centre, M.G.Road Boulevard. The event is free and open to all.
