Delhi-based Ankita Kumar teaches piano to students from all age groups. The annual concert of her piano institute, Colors of Music, was held at Sai Auditorium on Delhi’s Lodhi Road this past weekend. The chief guest of the show, Kathak dancer Shovana Narayan, addressing the students after the event, said, “I was pleased to see artists of all age groups and all sizes play today. That is what art is all about. It knows no boundaries.”
Ankita said the event was not only to feature her students but was also dedicated to the martyrs of Delhi Police. The former commissioner of police and Ankita's father Neeraj Kumar was also present at event to pay a tribute to the martyrs. The families of martyrs Ram Kishan and Constable Subhash Tomar were felicitated by Kumar and the chief guests. Ankita said the youngest student, five year old Rishik Malhotra played “Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star”, without rehearsing for it before. “She is wonderful on the piano and teaches really well. She is more like a friend than a teacher to us. I am glad that I get to learn so much from her,” said student Priyanka, who performed at the event.

Colors of music, launched in 2012, has 30 students and three teachers. The event was supported by the parents of the young artists and Delhi Police.
