Masquerade, the performance group, offers workshops for kids this summer. The Tree Of Theatre, held in partnership with Kalpataru Hobby Center, is a 12-day theatre workshop for kids aged eight to 12. Starting May 6, the workshop will end with a presentation by the participants on May 18 on Kalpataru premises, at No. 4 / 222, ECR, Palavakkam. Held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the workshop has a fee of Rs. 1,200. Only 20 participants will be taken in. For registration and details, call 96771-82145.

MYT Camp Neuve is for those aged between 13 and 19. The workshop is for three weeks, and covers the essentials of preparing an artiste, not just for stage, but also as a performer. It is on from May 6 to 24 (weekends excluded) between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 3B School of Music, First Street, Jeevaratnam Nagar (off Shanti Colony), Adyar. The Bear And Beanbag 4 Tweens is for kids aged between seven and 12. The workshop will conducted from May 6 to 17 (weekends excluded) between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at 3B School of Music and would culminate in a performance presentation by the participants on May 18. The fee is Rs. 1,500. The workshop aims to encourage and build creativity among the children and help them develop an understanding-based ethos of fairy and folk-tale tradition. Course-fee waiver is offered for deserving participants after the performance. For details, call 98840-29865.

It’s summer and the Blue Cross’ annual Water Bowl Project is here. Volunteers are invited to place bowls of fresh drinking water outside apartment complexes or their institutions to help birds and animals that do not have clean water sources. The initiative helps reduce instances of dehydration and death of birds and homeless animals due to water scarcity.
