Summer collection at Ethnic Weaves

Lemon drop, pearl pink, baby blue… this is the season when people tend to move towards the cooler and softer side of the colour spectrum. It is also the perfect time to pick up appropriate summer wears to beat the heat, and look your coolest.

From retail stores to boutiques, store keepers are currently busy piling their racks up high with breezy fabrics for the long sweltering summer.

Ethnic Weaves has introduced a new summer collection of saris, kurtas and dress material in this natural fabric. There are mul mul, JP kota, jute cotton, checked tussar…

Says Kunjumol Cyriac, proprietor of Ethnic Weaves: “Mul mul and jute cotton are perfect for summer. While the mul mul saris come embellished with block prints, Jaipuri prints, and Mughal prints, the jute cotton saris are a play with colours. The checked tussar saris too play with shades but there are checks on the body. JP cotton saris have badla and mirror work on them.”

While pastel shades are more popular during summer, bright colours are available too. According to Kunjamol, lime green and bottle green are the ‘in’ colours this season.

There are special discounts for the saris, kurtas and dress material this Sunday at Ethnic Weaves as part of the boutique’s sixth anniversary. To mark the occasion, the boutique will be transformed into a tiny village. A ‘chai kada’ will serve ethnic eats like thattu dosa, parippuvada and ethekkappam, which will be served with ‘metre’ tea. A fortune teller and a shop for bangles will add to the village fair feel.

The celebration which starts at 9.30 a.m. will conclude at 8.30 p.m.
