It's 25 years since Ilaiyaraaja released his first non-film album “How to name it?” The path-breaking effort that resonates with Indian and Western strains will be celebrated at a concert put together by the maestro's daughter Bavatharini, on April 29, 6.30 p.m., at Anna Centenary Library Auditorium, Kotturpuram. A musical travelogue, “How to name it?” goes beyond definition to explore the beauty of music on an exalted plane. In between frenetic rehearsals for the programme, Bhavatharini takes some time off to give us the details:
MUSIC FOR A CAUSE: We are celebrating 25 years of this album. “How to name it?” was a genre by itself. It was received with a lot of fervour the world over. What better way to celebrate it than with a show exclusively dedicated to it? Moreover, the Jeeva Foundation set up in my mother's name for underprivileged children deserves nothing less than “How to name it?”

It will be a violin-intensive concert with the field led by Ambi Subramaniam, the talented son of L. Subramaniam. Rajesh Vaidya, veena vidwan, will join in, to lend his inimitable style. They will be complemented by 40 people from dad's orchestra.
ALL IN THE FAMILY My brothers Karthik and Yuvan and cousins Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Ameren will also take the stage. I will sing a beautiful, melodious song of dad's. Renowned singers such as Sriram Parthasarathy, Shalini, Vilasini (my cousin) will also sing a few numbers composed by him.
